Introduction Purpose The purpose of this document is to outline the rules regulations in effect during PQAC sponsored events. Unless otherwise explicitly stated the event’s staff, all rules described herein are applicable at all times during events. Staff & Responsibilities The Event Coordinator is responsible for organization an event and coordinating the actions of other staff and participants. Safety Marshall and Safety Staff are responsible making sure that all safety rules are enforced and adhered to. They are also responsible for reporting any serious safety breaches to the Event Coordinator. Referees (when applicable) are responsible for enforcing the rules of the game and/or scenario being played. They are also responsible for making sure safety rules adhered to. The First Aid Person(s) is responsible for evaluating the severity of injuries incurred by players, and for either administering treatment or for contacting local emergency services (911) and preparing the evacuation of the injured player. Safety is everybody’s responsibility Penalties The goal of the penalties is not to harass the occasional offender who makes an honest mistake, but to punish those repeat offenders that show a marked contempt for the rules and for the safety of other players. Verbal Warning A verbal warning is given whenever a referee, Safety Marshall, or coordinator observes a violation of the rules. Player is expected to comply with the warning, and correct their behavior. Expulsion from Game If a verbal warning proves infective, players may be expulsed from the game. Expulsed players must leave the field immediately, gather their equipment, and go home. Ban from Club For players who show a definite contempt for the rules, and where expulsion from games has not succeeded in correcting behavior, a ban temporary or permanent from all PQAC sponsored events will be considered. Game Signals and Commands Game On Game On means that the game is now beginning. Goggles are to worn. Guns may be loaded and fired for gameplay. Game Halt A halt is called to temporarily stop a game. A halt might be called to deal with a safety problem, or resolve issues with players on neighboring fields All players immediately stop shooting and place their guns on safe. Players remain in place and goggles remain on. The game resumes then the Game On signal is given. Game End The Game End signal is given when one side has met its win condition, or the game is deemed to be over for other reasons by the coordinator. All players unload their guns according to the previously outlined procedure and proceed to return to the staging area. Goggles remain on until the Game Safe signal is given, or the safety marshal indicates otherwise. Emergency Stop The emergency stop signal is similar to the Game End signal, except that it is only given incase of a serious emergency such as an injury. Players are to follow the same procedure as for a Game End. Game Safe The designated safety marshal gives this signal when all guns have been secured. Players may remove their goggles. From this point on, guns can only be fired in designated Shooting Areas First Aid Point and Medical Emergencies During the game a First Aid Point as well as First Aid Person will be designated. For Minor Injuries For minor injuries, such as a small cut or sprain, frostbite, and dehydration, players should advise a Safety Marshal and make their way to the designated First Aid Area. If necessary the Safety Marshall will terminate the game and contact emergency services (911). For Major Injuries For major injuries, such as a major cut, fracture, concussion, severe hypothermia or heat stroke players should immediately advise a Safety Marshall or other staff. The game will be stopped and, injury permitting, the player moved to the first aid area. If the player cannot be moved then he/she should be immobilized. If necessary, emergency services will be contacted. Evacuation If an injury is severe enough, the player may need to be evacuated from the field. Emergency services will be contact by the event staff. If the player can be safely moved, then he should be brought to the entrance of the field to await the ambulance, and kept warm either in the chalet or in a vehicle. If the player cannot be safely moved, as is the case with a spinal cord injury, the player should be immobilized and kept warm. A person should be sent to the entrance of the field to guide in Emergency services personnel. Remember, safety is everybody’s responsibility! | ||
